Those components shown in purple were existing systems integrated through an agent interface.

The general architecture involves

• A "facilitator" agents connecting the various components
• An agent for each module - once written, these agents can be easily reused
• Abstract representation of agent tasks ensures both robustness and extensibility
• "notify" is expressed as an abstract agent
• The notify agent knows there are many means to notify
• Other agents, when added, express their ability to notify
• This means that a new means to notify, e.g., by fax, can be seamlessly, quickly integrated
